Let's Talk About Trailers

I love films. It's really no secret. I've spent countless days in the past just sat watching any film I can get my hands on. But there's one thing that I detest about films; the trailers.

My problem isn't with regular trailers, it's with the trailers that paint a film to be something it isn't. There are hundreds of trailers that don't even brush the plotline of the film, and that really ticks me off. Evidently, there are some trailers that do exactly what they say on the tin, showing explosions, giant robots and scantily-clad Megan Foxes, and delivering explosions, giant robots and scantily-clad Megan Foxes

It runs along the same lines of someone changing the sleeve on a hardback to Dickens, when the actual novel is Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. The premise is the same; why paint a film out to be something it's not? Surely if you're having to lie about what happens in your film you shouldn't really be producing it.
The moral of this story: Film-producers, stop lying about your films.

Tune in again for another "Let's Talk About" segment.

  2. Im not sure who it was, maybe college humor, maybe it was something else but I remember there was a really good little clip about this topic exactly. They listed about 15 major film wheres the trailer was so misleading no one saw the film they expected. It gets me angry too!

  3. They did the same thing with The Village. It was portrayed as a horror film.. but it wasn't that scary.

I'm not a big fan of trailers either. Especially if it's a comedy and they put all the funny parts in the trailer. ):

Nice post. Look forward to more. (:

  5. Aside from misleading trailers, I also hate the ones that show the entire movie (with the exception of the last 5 minutes). Why even waste 2 hours when you can watch the everything in 2 minutes?

  6. i really hate the Adjustment Bureau trailer. I thought it was going to be this awesome movie, but instead it was a stupid chick flick! My hopes have never been crushed so bad by a movie.

  7. I love watching trailers; sometimes i enjoy watching the trailer more than the actual movie; although that's probably the point you're trying to make ;>>

  14. Trailers can often give a false impression of what a movie is about. But some of them are pretty awesome if done right.
